Preliminary Task: Textual Analysis

denotation: the magazine shows a basketball coach on the front of a college for basketball, it is a medium long shot as it shows his body from his waist upwards. he is standing on a basketball court and has a ball on his finger. hes smiling and he's the only person in the picture and there no one else in the back ground. he has a dark blue shirt on which stands out on the magazine. his picture takes up half of the magazine with the writting on the other side and a big title going across the whole magazine.

conotation: the man who looks like hes the coach of the basketball team is standing with a very relaxed posture and is smiling which could resemble as long as you get good grades and play well, it will be very easy and relaxing, he is also the only one in the picture so it also shows that the more you try and work hard the more you will stand out from the others.

the colour of his shirt is a dark blue but it still stands out, it looks like hes wearing a college shirt, which is showing the people that are iterested that they will be provided with all they need on the basketballl side of things, and all they need to do it come and get the grades that will help the progress and also have something to fall back on.

his NVC is very calm and relaxed has heis smiling and the ball is on his finger, making everything look effortless, plus the man looks quiet old so it shows that if you put it the work everything would become effortless to you aswell you just got to put in the work.

the picture is very bright and shows the definition of the writting and the picture it has a minimum amount of writting but the title is very bold and could be the name of the college aswelll as the basketball team at the top of the magazine it shows a band saying alton sports showing that its an american college, and they have a sponsor so if you play for them you could possibly get scouted. it is also the company that owns the college as it has the website under the title.

the setting is very minimal and very standard with basketball court appearing from a white background but the contrast could show the colour of the clouds and that they sky is the limit in this college and you can achieve alot.
